(Watch for updates and photos weekly!)

Newborn Pups 02/17/07: Farina began her labor late Friday, and her first pup was born at 11:45 pm. She whelped a total of 7 puppies, and both Mom and Pups are doing well. Each week, I will post an update and new photos of the puppies. Click on the thumbnails below for photo enlargements.

One Week Old 02/24/07: The first week of the puppies life is made up of nursing, sleeping and growing. Mom is most important at this time. Take a look at this week's photos below and you will see they have practically doubled in size. All pups are doing well and so is Mom. Farina has plenty of milk and loves her pups.
Two Weeks Old 03/03/07: During the second week, the pups opened their eyes, and can now hear. They also received their first toenail trim. The pups are doing well, growing and becoming more active. Mom is also doing well and still has plenty of milk for the pups.
Three Weeks Old 03/10/07: This has been an eventful week for the pups. The pups received their first worming and I started them on the puppy gruel weaning diet, as well as they are now drinking water too (though no one passes up Mom's milk). At first, they just would eat a small amount once a day followed by Mom's milk. On Saturday, I offered them the puppy gruel twice, and by Sunday, they helped themselves to the groceries! The pups are interacting with me now and wake up when I started talking to them. One male pup climbed out of the box. All pups are growing well and becoming playful.

Four Weeks Old 03/17/07: The pups are growing and ready to play! Their personalities are outgoing and inquisitive. Their box has been enlarged for more room to play. On Friday, they received their 2nd worming and a toenail trim. The pups now have TEETH, but Farina is still determined to feed them milk and doesn't seem to be ready to completely wean them yet. Farina loves the pups and plays with them.

Five Weeks Old 03/24/07: The pups are five weeks old now, and Farina is beginning to wean them, but still allows them to nurse occasionally. They are eatting solid food now ... like there is no tomorrow! They LIKE using their teeth to crunch the dry food and pull on my socks! The pups have hit a growth spurt, and seem to be bigger each time I look at them. This is the beginning a stressful period, as Mom will wean them completely this week, and they will receive their first puppy shots as they turn 6 weeks old. They have received another worming and toenail trim. The pups are spending most of the time outside in the kennel area now ... playing, sleeping and eatting is the "name of the game" this week. The doggy door has also been conquered! This week the pups all got a new collars, now you will be able to tell the boys from the girls. Colors are as follows: BOYS - Green/Light Blue/Dark Blue and the GIRLS - Pink/Yellow/Aqua/Purple

Six Weeks Old 03/31/07: These photos taken on 4/2/07. The pups are really growing and active. They received their first set of puppy shots on 3/31/07 and a toenail trim and there collars was let out as they have grown a lot the past week. They are completely weaned from Mom now, and being fed dry food 3 times a day. The next two weeks is an important period beginning "socialization". This period is "sibling socialization", where basically the pups learn ... "to interact with each other. Example: you bite me, I bite you". For puppies, biting is a PLAY thing, they put their teeth on everything from your ankles to your fingers to each other. They love to pull my pants or get their teeth in my socks. I have taught them to "listen" when I talk, and they are well familiar with the radio and other dogs barking, but now I have began to introduce "higher pitch sounds", like singing. So you'll see some serious to funny looks on their faces in the photos below ... and that is why, I was singing to them, and hitting some high pitches.

** PLEASE SEE "Picking up your puppy" notes below!**

Seven Weeks Old 04/07/07: At seven weeks old, the pups were tattooed in their right ear. On Tuesday, the veternarian came out and gave the pups a checkup and all was well. On Thursday evening, (4/12/07) the pups received their 2nd puppy shot in preparation of going to their new homes on Saturday.

Eight Weeks Old 04/14/07 and 04/15/07: The pups turned eight weeks old on Saturday, and what a weekend! Most of the pups went to their new families on Saturday and then some on Sunday. This has been a very energetic, happy and healthy litter!

PICKING UP YOUR PUPPY: The puppies will be 8 weeks old on April 14th. So the weekend of April 14-15, 2007 is "pickup" weekend for your puppy. If you have not already scheduled your "pickup" appointment, please email me for available times. I like to schedule about 1 to 2 hours for each appointment. I know that seems like a lot of time, but we will need time to: 1) meet your puppy, 2) I will explain how to feed, what to feed, and snacks, 3) go over health records and appropriate exercise, 4) review the Orumhaus guarantee and discuss pedigree and registration information, and 5) answer any questions you might have. Please note that your balance is due when you pickup your puppy. Thank you for choosing an Orumhaus Puppy!
