L I T T E R    BORN    07/06/12
( 4 ) Males                      ( 3) Females

(View PHOTOS below or click on links to download videos of the pups)

Newborns: Fina whelped 7 beautiful puppies on 7/6/2012. Mom and pups are doing fine. Click on the video below:

Puppy Update - Week 1: Since the last update, the pups have grown and became more active. Their eyes should be opening any day now ... check out the video of Fina and the pups at 10 days old.

Puppy Update - Week 2: The pups are now two weeks old. In the past few days, their eyes have opened and they are becoming more active. Mom is taking very good care of them and she has plenty of milk. Here are this week's movies & photos.

Everyone is sleepy after eating ... sweet puppies!

Puppy Update - Week 3: Since I last posted, the babies have turned into puppies! These puppies are such happy little tail waggers! The pups are growing well and healthy. During the past week, they have learned the following:

  • Recognize my voice
  • Play with each other
  • Bark and growl a little
  • What it means to get their toenails trimmed

This week they have received their first worming, a toenail trim and have started on their puppy weaning diet. They are still nursing, but their teeth are now through the gums, so Mom will begin to wean them most likely in the next week or so. Below are a few photos and a video of the pups.

Puppy Update – Week 4: The babies are definitely a fun bunch! This litter is very happy and outgoing and they will be PEOPLE puppies! They have sharp little teeth now, and they enjoy playing and running, but they also enjoy just watching me and listening to me talk to them. Fina is definitely weaning the pups and they are feeling a little stress from it right now. So they are entering into the first stressful phase of their life... the weaning process.

This week they have received another worming, and are eatting three meals a day, with snacks in between. In the video below, you will see the full scope of the pups after they have finished dinner, and are in the PLAY MODE. Hope you enjoy this week"s video.

Puppy Update – Week 5: It has certainly been a busy week at Orumhaus Kennels! Our Z Litter is growing and doing well, and sooooo lovable! There are NO shy puppies in this bunch! Everyone loves attention and enjoys both toys and people.

It has also been a stressful week for the puppies! Fina has completely weaned them … so NO MORE MAMA’S MILK! Fina still loves to visit the pups for … about a minute! Since the pups are growing fast now, I removed the whelping box and they now have two big play pens, one in the whelping room (in the A/C) and then a second play pen outside in their Mom’s outdoor run. Of course, their favorite pen is the one in the whelping room, because AIR CONDITIONING is the best thing next to mother’s milk. Also, this week you will notice the puppies have collars on. Here is the color scheme:

BOYS = Black collar, Blue collar, Orange collar and Red collar

GIRLS = Pink collar, Tan collar and Green collar

Puppy Update – Week 6: The puppies will be 7 weeks old tomorrow! During the past week, the pups have been outside more and thank goodness for the cooler weather (well in the low 90's). Last Thursday, the pups received their first set of puppy shots. Next Saturday, they will be wormed again, then on Thursday, 8/30/12, they will receive their second set of puppy shots.

The pups will be 8 weeks old on 8/31/12, and are allowed to go to their new homes at that time. During the next week, there are several things that require your attention:

  • You will receive an “appointment email request” from me to setup your pickup time. Please respond as soon as possible.
  • You may want to view the “What do I need for my new puppy page” (in the right column on this blog). This is like a check list.
  • Since this is the Orumhaus Z Litter, all the pups in this litter will have a first name that begins with a Z (example: Zorro von Orumhaus or Zena von Orumhaus). If you have a Z name that you would like for your puppy, please email me. Also, if you have a call name you would like me to add into the AKC registered name, please let me know that as well (example: Zena “Lady” von Orumhaus”

Now, here are the individual “face” photos of the pups at 6.5 weeks old. Enjoy!

Puppy Update – Week 6: The Orumhaus Z Litter turned 8 weeks old last Friday (8/31/12)! On Thursday, they received their 2nd set of puppy shots. On Friday, everyone went to the vet for their health checkup, then Friday afternoon, the first two pups went to their new homes! Saturday was a full day with puppies going home too. And Sunday, Zepher Moses left early …. headed for his home in Odessa, TX.

In the meantime, back at the ranch (as they say). Zoey and Zee Kemba are still hanging out, and using every opportunity to hit the doggy door at full speed headed for the air conditioner! Yes, these pups are spoiled, and they LOVE their A/C. Zee Kemba will fly on Saturday to his new home in Connecticut. Zoey is still looking for the right family. Enjoy this week’s video.

Last Update: Zoey has found a new home, and we wish her and her new family well!
