Gaby whelped 5 beautiful pups on April 6th! All are fine and doing well. (Click on the thumbnails to the right for an enlarged photo)

Week One: On 4/13/03, Gaby's pups are one week old. This week, the pups have grown by leaps and bounds, and right now, life consists of EATTING, SLEEPING and EATTING some more.

Week Two: On 4/20/03, Gaby's pups are two weeks old. This week, have had some changes. Their eyes opened on Thursday, and on Sunday, their ear canals opened, so now they can hear me talk to them. They are still eatting and sleeping alot, but getting a little more active and starting to walk instead of crawl and today, they started growling and playing a little too.

Week Three: On 4/27/03, the pups are now three weeks old and now they know my voice and have started learning to eat their weaning diet. The first couple of days, each pup only ate about 1 teaspoon full, a couple of times a day, now they are eatting more and by the end of the week will be eatting 3 times a day. Next, we have to learn that water is for DRINKING, not sleeping in! Their personalties are starting to come out and so far, everyone seems very happy and ready to see me.

Week Four: The pups are getting their own personalities now. They are eatting 3 "weaning diet" meals a day and still have mom for nursing. Mom is slowing down on feeding them, as her amount of milk produced is decreasing. They are drinking water too. They now have sharp little teeth, but love to lick your face when you bend over to them. Wrestling is a BIG item on their daily agenda. They like to play with each other. This week, they got another worming and toenail trim. They are also starting to enjoy "investigating" outside the BOX.

Week Five: On 5/11/03, the pups turned 5 weeks old. Today, they learned to go in and out of the doggy door, from the whelping room to the kennel run area. Mom is still with the pups, but she is beginning to wean them. They are eatting 3 puppy meals per day. They are now playing with toys and love to run and play with each other.... and also to pull on my socks! This week they received another worming, and today got their first collars. Of course, the new collars started everyone scratching trying to get them off!
Week Six: This week is the beginning of a stressful period for the pups. Mom has moved out of their room and now they only see her a couple of times a day, mainly for socializing and playing.  Mom is being a little more forceful with the weaning process and the are no longer allowed to nurse.   Their appetities are increasing, and they are continueing to eat 3 times a day, but larger portions (about 3/4 cup each at each feeding), with fresh water available at all times.  Another BIG issue this week is now that they are learning to go outside to potty! Sunday...they received their first set of shots. Life as they have known it ... has changed a lot this week. This is the beginning of sibling socializing. At the end of the week, Litter #2, (4 days younger) were introduced to them.
Week Seven: This week, the pups received their tattoos and another worming. The love to play and like to follow you in the yard!   The pups went to the veternarian for their check up, and are doing fine.   I have had a lot of fun with these pups!  They are full of personality and very people oriented, as well as outgoing and energetic.!

Week Eight: The pups have now reached the age where they can go to their new homes. Here is a last look at the pups. One female is still looking for the right home!
